The General Directorate of Statistics and Information under Taliban control says that in the first six months of the year 1405, more than 15,000 foreign citizens entered and exited Afghanistan through land crossings and airports, with the majority having entered the country for work.

The General Directorate of Statistics and Information under Taliban control said in a newsletter published on Monday, September 28 (Mizan 6) that during this period, 8,538 foreign citizens entered Afghanistan, of whom 349 were women.

According to the newsletter, during the same period, 6,911 foreign citizens also exited the country, of whom 197 were women.

The directorate stated that of the total number of entrants, 8,437 entered Afghanistan through land routes and 101 through air borders.

Official statistics show that 931 foreign citizens entered the country to visit Afghanistan’s historical and ancient sites, and other individuals came to Afghanistan for work purposes.

Among the country’s crossings, the Nimroz crossing recorded the highest entry of foreign citizens, with 5,034 entering Afghanistan through this route.

After that, 2,659 entered through land crossings and Herat airport, 652 through the Aqina crossing in Faryab, and 67 through the Ishkashim crossing in Badakhshan.

The General Directorate of Statistics and Information under Taliban control noted that others also entered Afghanistan through the Hairatan crossing, Balkh airport, and the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar.

The increase in foreign nationals entering Afghanistan, alongside economic and tourism aspects, also raises questions about the type of activity, workplace, and level of oversight of foreign nationals’ presence in the country; especially since, according to official statistics, the majority of those entering came to Afghanistan for work purposes.

However, the statistics published by the Taliban do not provide further details about nationality, type of work, duration of stay, and the sectors in which these individuals are active.
