The Afghanistan Freedom Front says clashes between its forces and the Taliban in Kamdesh District of Nuristan Province, which began this morning, Saturday, September 26, are still ongoing.

In its latest newsletter, the front announced that the Taliban attacked the positions of Freedom Front forces in Kamdesh using infantry forces and drones, but retreated after suffering casualties.

According to this newsletter, after repelling the Taliban attack, Freedom Front forces launched a counterattack from several directions.

The Freedom Front has claimed that during these clashes, several Taliban checkpoints were captured by the front’s forces, and parts of Kamdesh District of Nuristan and Nari District of Kunar have been taken out of Taliban control.

The front also said that a large amount of Taliban weapons, equipment, and military facilities fell into the hands of its forces, and a number of Taliban drones were also destroyed or neutralized.

The Freedom Front declared the Taliban’s casualties as at least five killed and 10 wounded, and said that the Taliban’s wounded have been transferred to medical centers in Nuristan and Kunar.

Meanwhile, the Freedom Front says it is monitoring Taliban movements in Zebak District of Badakhshan, Kamdesh of Nuristan, and Nari of Kunar, and will respond to possible Taliban attacks.

On the other hand, media close to the Taliban, by broadcasting video tapes attributed to these clashes, have claimed that they have arrested the perpetrators of the attacks in Nuristan.
