Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of Iran, says that Tehran has presented a specific seven-day plan to the United States for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming normal ship traffic, and now the decision-making on this matter depends on Washington.

Araghchi said in an interview with reporters at the United Nations headquarters on Friday, September 25, that if the necessary conditions are provided, the Strait of Hormuz can be reopened, and normal maritime traffic in this route can resume within seven days.

He added: “The choice is now with the United States.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister also said that the actions that America must take to provide these conditions are not new items, and all of them were previously included in a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington in June.

This comes as Reuters news agency reported yesterday, citing two Iranian sources, two regional officials, and two Western diplomatic sources, that representatives of the United States and Iran are negotiating in New York about an interim agreement to end the conflicts.

Under this agreement, Tehran will reopen the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz, and Washington will lift the economic siege on Iran.
