Murtaza Solangi, the spokesman for Pakistan’s Presidency, in reaction to the Taliban’s recent movements along the country’s borders, said that Islamabad will not back down in the face of what he calls “adventurist actions.”
Solangi said on Thursday, September 24, in a message on X that he considered the Taliban’s use of drones insignificant and said that such actions cannot pressure Pakistan or change the country’s course.
He added that Pakistan will continue its diplomatic efforts to establish peace in the region and the world, and at the same time, will not leave any provocative action along the border unanswered.
The spokesman for Pakistan’s Presidency also accused the Taliban of being incapable of responsible governance and of violating commitments, saying that the group faces serious criticism over extensive restrictions on women and girls, as well as what he called the suppression of minorities.
Solangi further warned that continued tension with Pakistan will not help solve the Taliban’s internal problems and could lead to increased isolation of the group and further consequences for it.
He also claimed that the Taliban, by highlighting border disputes and religious and nationalist issues, is trying to divert public attention from its internal challenges.
Pakistani security sources said yesterday that at least eight drones were fired from Afghan territory toward the country and were subsequently shot down by them.
However, the Taliban rejected this claim.
