Davood Naji, head of the political committee of the Afghanistan Freedom Front, in response to recent remarks by Rahmatullah Najib, the Taliban governor in Badakhshan, said that this front is fighting to end the system of “Emirate” and “allegiance” (bay’ah).

Naji wrote in a message published on X on Friday, September 18, that the goal of their struggle is to establish a system whose officials are elected, subject to oversight, and accountable, and whose term in power is limited.

He also emphasized equality between men and women and the absence of ethnic, religious, and linguistic discrimination.

Addressing Rahmatullah Najib, Naji stated: “Until yesterday you said there was no opposition at all; now you say they don’t know what they are fighting for.”

This comes as the Taliban governor in Badakhshan said at a meeting the previous day that armed groups opposing the Taliban, despite using slogans such as “freedom” and “democracy,” do not have a clear goal for their activities.

He had stated that some anti-Taliban currents justify their struggle under the banner of democracy and freedom, but according to him, it is unclear what goal this struggle is ultimately supposed to lead to.
