António Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General, calling the situation in the Middle East sensitive, has called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions in the region.

Guterres said on his X page in the early hours of Thursday, 26 Sunbula, that any action that harms civilians must stop.

He emphasized ensuring the safety of civilians and preventing obstacles to humanitarian operations in various parts of the Middle East.

The UN Secretary-General also called for the restoration and respect of freedom of navigation, saying that diplomacy and dialogue are the only path to reducing tensions.

These remarks come as, in recent months, war and conflict have continued in parts of the Middle East, with no clear prospect for ending this situation.
