The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that more than 2.6 million girls in Afghanistan have been deprived of secondary education over the past five years.
UNICEF said in a message posted on its X page on Thursday, 26 Sunbula, that the Taliban must lift educational restrictions and provide the ground for the immediate return of all girls and women to schools and universities.
The agency emphasized that all girls and women must be able to continue their education and studies without restrictions.
It is worth noting that after the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, education for girls above the sixth grade was halted, and subsequently, restrictions were also imposed on women’s education at universities.
As a result, millions of girls and women in Afghanistan have been deprived of continuing their education and higher studies.
