The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says that its cash assistance to people returning to Afghanistan has decreased from $375 to $170 per person.

According to a Reuters news agency report, this institution said on Tuesday, September 29, in its new report that despite the reduction in assistance, more than one million people have returned to Afghanistan from neighboring countries, including Iran and Pakistan, in the current year.

The UN High Commissioner has warned that the severe financial crisis of this institution has reduced its ability to provide assistance and support services to refugees and displaced persons in various countries.

It is worth noting that Afghanistan has faced a massive wave of migrants returning from neighboring countries, especially Iran and Pakistan, in the current year.

Meanwhile, the reduction in the budget of aid agencies has limited the ability to provide financial support and basic services to returnees.
