The Taliban’s Ministry of Finance has announced an increase in customs tariffs on a number of imported goods with the aim of supporting domestic production and growing trade.

The ministry said in a newsletter published on Monday, September 28 (Mizan 6) that the tariff on bottles has increased from 12 to 16 percent, and the tariff on construction paint from 16 to 30 percent.

According to the Ministry of Finance’s newsletter, the tariff on leather footwear and plaster has also risen from 50 to 80 percent, and the tariff on sanitary diapers from 20 to 25 percent.

At the same time, the customs tariff on cardiac stents has been reduced from eight to 3.5 percent. The Ministry of Finance said that this decision was made at the third meeting of the tariff committee in the year 1405.

The ministry added that customs tariffs on cement, iron pipes, refrigerators, and raw materials for carpet weaving are also under review.
