Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has warned that if an agreement to end the war with Iran is not reached, he may “destroy” the Islamic Republic.

According to a Reuters report, Trump said on Tuesday, the 22nd of September, in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, that he called on other countries to economically isolate Iran in order to force it to negotiate.

He noted that US attacks have prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

He stated: “I have a big decision ahead of me. Will there be an agreement with Iran that allows them to rebuild their country and build a country much bigger than before? Or do I destroy the Islamic Republic and do it quickly so that they no longer have an opportunity to kill and destroy people and countries?”

Trump defended his administration’s foreign policy and said that the war with Iran keeps the world away from the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.

In another part of his speech, referring to US operations in Venezuela, he also said that the United States will no longer allow threats against the United States to gain a foothold in the Western Hemisphere.

The US President added: “While others have talked about peace, I have created peace.”

In this speech, he called Mexico the “center of cartel violence” and asked its government to regain control of its territory.

It is worth noting that Trump spoke for 37 minutes at this meeting.

He threatened Iran with destruction while Masoud Pezeshkian, his Iranian counterpart, was also present at the meeting.
