Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, says Tehran and Washington have discussed ways to advance talks through Qatari mediators, and Iran is waiting to receive America’s final response.
According to a report by IRNA news agency, Araghchi said on Tuesday, September 29, that in his latest meeting with the Qatari mediator, ideas for advancing Iran’s conditions were discussed, and these proposals are to be presented to the American side once again.
According to him, Washington’s response will also be conveyed to Tehran through the same channel, and this process is likely to become clear by Tuesday.
Iran’s Foreign Minister added that Tehran’s seven-point plan had previously been conveyed to America through the Qatari mediator.
He emphasized that after receiving Washington’s response, a decision on the next step will be made in Tehran.
Araghchi also noted that Iran’s position on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has not changed, and he has conditioned any reopening of the strait on the fulfillment of conditions that Tehran has announced to the opposing parties.
He also rejected reports about Iran’s flexibility on the nuclear issue.
At the end of his trip to New York, he announced that he is heading to Tehran, and if America’s response is received, the Qatari mediators will convey it to Iranian officials.
This comes as earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has not accepted Iran’s plan.
