Etilat-e-Roz newspaper announced the launch of the Uzbek-language section of its website on 29 Mizan, the National Day of the Uzbek Language.

The newspaper wrote that it will continue its publications in Uzbek in addition to Dari, Pashto, and English. The newspaper said the purpose of creating this section is to preserve and promote the values of multilingualism in the country and to work toward expanding access to information.

Previously, 8am newspaper, after the collapse of the republic system, was the first media outlet to launch Uzbek-language publications.

Some cultural activists and Uzbek-speaking citizens have described this move as support for the growth of languages and cultural diversity in the country.
