{"id":783,"date":"2026-09-28T11:16:53","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T11:16:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/taneen.tv\/en\/?p=783"},"modified":"2026-09-30T12:12:25","modified_gmt":"2026-09-30T12:12:25","slug":"1304-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/taneen.tv\/en\/1304-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Burhanuddin Rabbani; From the Presidency to Losing His Life on the Path to Peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Burhanuddin Rabbani, the former President of Afghanistan and head of the High Peace Council, was killed on September 20, 1390 (Solar Hijri), equivalent to September 20, 2011, in a suicide attack in Kabul \u2014 an event that occurred during his efforts to advance the Afghan peace process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Rabbani was targeted at his home in the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan area of Kabul while meeting with individuals who had introduced themselves as representatives of the Taliban.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">According to United Nations reports, the attacker had hidden explosives in his turban and detonated them during the meeting. In this incident, in addition to Rabbani, several others were wounded, including Mohammad Massoum Stanikzai, a member of the High Peace Council.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">At the time of his death, Rabbani was serving as the head of Afghanistan&#8217;s High Peace Council \u2014 a council established to advance dialogue and reconciliation with armed opposition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">In the months before this event, he had made extensive efforts to initiate peace talks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Burhanuddin Rabbani was one of Afghanistan&#8217;s prominent political figures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">He was the leader of Jamiat-e Islami Afghanistan and the head of the Islamic State of Afghanistan in the 1990s, and after the fall of the Taliban in 2001, he remained active in the country&#8217;s political arena.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Rabbani&#8217;s death occurred at a time when war continued in Afghanistan and efforts to initiate political dialogue with armed opposition faced serious challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">After this event, the United Nations condemned his assassination and emphasized the continuation of efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Burhanuddin Rabbani, the former President of Afghanistan and head of the High Peace Council, was killed on September 20, 1390 (Solar Hijri), equivalent to September..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":784,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_FSMCFIC_featured_image_caption":"","_FSMCFIC_featured_image_nocaption":"","_FSMCFIC_featured_image_hide":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-783","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-afghanistan"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Burhanuddin Rabbani;
