But recent statements by Donald Trump have lifted the veil on facts showing that Afghanistan is still the focus of attention for America and powerful nations.

With Trump’s statements, it has become clear that one of the secret clauses of the Doha agreement concerned the implicit permission for the Taliban to allow America to keep Bagram base. While the Taliban have repeatedly denied any continuation of foreign forces’ presence in Afghanistan, and Taliban spokespeople have rejected talks about handing over Bagram base to America, the confirmation of this matter by the American president and American media reveals a hidden truth that the Taliban does not want the Afghan public to know about.

Before Trump’s statements, the Taliban had already laid the groundwork for discussion of Bagram in public opinion. In this regard, Tolo News — which currently faces censorship by the Taliban — held an interview with Amir Khan Muttaqi, in which one of the participants, indicating that the question had been put to him, asked whether, in exchange for recognition, they would hand over Bagram to America. Amir Khan Muttaqi replied to the participant: no. Yet such questioning under the Taliban banner is currently considered a crime.

Continuing the topic of Bagram, unconfirmed reports emerged that in the month of Hamal of the current year, a C-17 American aircraft carrying equipment, military vehicles, and senior intelligence personnel landed at Bagram base. The important point in this unconfirmed information was that one of the deputies of the CIA director was among those who entered Bagram with this aircraft. This issue was also reflected in the media of regional countries. But the Taliban have repeatedly dismissed and rejected these reports as rumors, saying they will not allow the presence of foreign military personnel in Afghanistan.

Now, why is Bagram important for America? Replacing Bagram in place of Iraq.

By retaining the strategic Bagram base in Afghanistan, the United States seeks to create a backup and alternative point to reduce its direct presence in Iraq. In recent years, the position of American forces in Iraq has become severely unstable; on one hand, repeated attacks by groups under the name of “resistance” against American bases have increased, and on the other hand, the Iraqi parliament and public opinion have demanded the complete withdrawal of foreign forces from the country.

In such circumstances, America is trying to pave the way for a gradual withdrawal from Iraq by transferring part of its intelligence, logistical, and operational capacities to Bagram, without weakening its regional influence. Bagram’s geographical location, at a relatively safer distance from direct threats, allows Washington to both monitor security developments in West Asia and, if necessary, intervene purposefully in the course of developments in Iraq. This strategy amounts to a kind of controlled retreat.

Containing the “China, Russia, and Iran” triangle.

One of America’s key and strategic objectives in maintaining its limited military presence at Bagram base is to contain China’s growing influence in Afghanistan. In recent years, China has tried to establish and expand its foothold in the country through extensive investment in mining and infrastructure projects, as well as connecting Afghanistan to the massive “Belt and Road” project. These actions are viewed by Washington as a serious threat to Western strategic interests. In this regard, America, using its intelligence and military capacities at Bagram, closely monitors China’s movements and prevents its complete dominance over Afghanistan’s rich resources and geostrategic position — a point that Trump himself explicitly confirmed in his statements.

On the other hand, Bagram base’s geographical location near Iran’s eastern borders provides an exceptional opportunity for America to monitor Tehran’s regional policies and activities and, if necessary, counter them. Iran has in recent years increased its influence, especially in western Afghanistan, but by retaining Bagram base, America — even with a reduced direct military presence — still maintains a center for monitoring Iran’s movements through intelligence tools and indirect pressure. Hence, this presence will turn into a kind of advanced listening station and monitoring center for Chinese and Iranian activities in the region.

Moreover, Afghanistan is known as a bridge to Central Asia, a region that has always held high strategic importance for global actors. By retaining Bagram, America intends to increase its influence in this region and, through it, approach Russia’s southern borders. Central Asia, known as Russia’s traditional backyard, is a strategic region for America, where by creating new bases of influence, Washington is trying to shift the balance of power in its favor.

Final word.

Therefore, the continuation of America’s presence in Bagram cannot be interpreted merely as a remnant of past wars; rather, this issue is part of a comprehensive and long-term strategy to contain America’s geopolitical rivals in the heart of Asia. This strategy — a combination of limited military presence, the use of intelligence capacities, and the application of indirect pressure — reflects the continuity of power rivalries in the region and strengthens Bagram’s role as a key point in this equation.

But the important question is whether America, in order to preserve this strategic location and point, wants to sacrifice the Taliban, or whether they will do this jointly. It is a question that time will answer.

Bagram is not merely a military base for America and its allies; it is a strategic tool for controlling developments in Afghanistan and containing regional..

[12

post-259","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exile

The Bitter Taste of Withdrawal: Why Does America Want Bagram Again? - Taneen Tv

<meta name="description" content="Why does America want Bagram again?
