The European Union has called on the United States to reconsider its decision not to issue entry visas for members of the Palestinian delegation ahead of the United Nations General Assembly.
Al Jazeera reported on Saturday, September 19, that the European Union expressed regret over the extension of these restrictions for the second consecutive year.
Referring to the US commitments as the host country of the United Nations, the European Union called for respect for agreements related to the participation of delegations in this session.
The US also imposed similar restrictions last year, as a result of which a number of senior Palestinian officials were unable to travel to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly.
The UN General Assembly is scheduled to be held in New York, and the issue of the Palestinian delegation’s participation has once again drawn attention ahead of this session.
