In response to the recent resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), North Korea has called its nuclear status “irreversible” and rejected the resolution.
Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, on Saturday, September 19, accused the IAEA of double standards, saying the agency has remained silent on the nuclear activities of the US and South Korea but has passed a resolution against North Korea’s nuclear activities.
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry also rejected the resolution, declaring that the country is a nuclear power and its status is irreversible, backed by its nuclear deterrence capability.
North Korea’s state news agency also reported that Kim Jong Un inspected a number of important military production factories during his three-day trip.
According to the report, Kim said that North Korea’s efforts to modernize various parts of its defense capability have brought significant changes to the structure and equipment of the country’s armed forces.
Analysts say that since signing a mutual defense treaty with Russia in 2024, North Korea has been rebuilding and strengthening its military capability with Moscow’s help.
