The Afghanistan Freedom Front, in its third follow-up statement on the situation in Nuristan and Kunar, has said that several villages in the Kamdesh district of Nuristan province and the Nari district of Kunar province have been liberated from Taliban control.
The front said in a statement on Sunday, September 27, that since Saturday of this week, at least 37 Taliban members have been killed and 24 other members of this group have been wounded as a result of these events.
The Freedom Front has claimed a counterattack and panic in Taliban ranks and stated that a large number of light and heavy weapons have fallen into the hands of its forces.
According to this front, the Taliban have been pushed back from these areas after suffering heavy casualties.
The statement said that the bodies of the killed and the wounded Taliban have been transferred to hospitals in Kunar and Nuristan.
According to the statement, Freedom Front forces have maintained their posts in the liberated villages and lands of Kamdesh and Nari districts and have temporarily retreated from some vulnerable posts.
This comes as the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense has claimed that following clashes between the ministry’s forces and groups in the Kamdesh district of Nuristan, 28 people were killed and 32 others were arrested.
