Ahmad Jan Bilal, the Director General of Taliban Companies, says that 74 billion Afghanis were invested in the electricity sector over the past year, which he said was the largest investment in the history of this sector.

Bilal made these remarks on Tuesday, the 22nd of September, at the ceremony marking the start of work on development projects for three substations in Kabul and the extension of the 220-kilovolt transmission line from Kabul’s Green Industrial Park to the Barikab Industrial Park in Parwan.

He said that electricity is one of the fundamental elements in all sectors of a country’s economic development, and given the progress of ongoing projects, there is hope for meeting the country’s electricity needs.

The Director General of Taliban Companies added that the implementation of electricity projects has provided the ground for creating job opportunities and industrial development in the country and is pushing Afghanistan toward economic self-sufficiency.

Bilal also praised the efforts of the technical staff of Afghanistan’s electricity supply company under Taliban control (Breshna) and said that they resolve technical problems under difficult conditions and address them in a timely manner.

These remarks come as Afghanistan imports the majority of its electricity from neighboring countries.

Citizens of the country have always complained about excessive power outages.
