António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, said in his latest report to the Security Council that the Afghanistan-Pakistan border has remained unstable from May 1 to July 31 due to airstrikes, drone surveillance, and reciprocal military actions.
According to the report published on Wednesday, September 16 (25 Sunbula), Pakistani airstrikes in May and June targeted parts of Ghazni, Kunar, Khost, and Paktika provinces, and in some cases caused damage to civilians and infrastructure.
The UN also reported sporadic shelling from Pakistani territory into parts of Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Nuristan, and Kunar.
During the same period, several clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistani forces were reported in Kandahar, Nangarhar, and Paktia provinces.
The report states that the Taliban Ministry of Defense announced on June 30 that, in response to Pakistani attacks, it had targeted alleged ISIS-Khorasan and anti-Taliban group positions in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan with drone strikes.
Pakistani officials have also confirmed the entry of drones into their territory and attempts to intercept them.
It is worth noting that Pakistan has consistently claimed it has targeted TTP positions inside Afghan territory.
